A guide to Sun Valley Idaho

I have been traveling to Sun Valley, Idaho since I can remember. My family owns an old fashioned log cabin in the woods where there are more animals than people. Sun Valley has a small town charm that is distinct from anywhere I have been. One second you could be skiing down a beautiful mountain and the next casually talking to Jamie Lee Curtis at lunch. It is this mix of personalities, charm and overall down to earth feel that makes me keep coming back to Sun Valley.

Where to Eat:

CK's: A home grown (literally) restaurant that is worth every bite. Everything at CK's is focused on sustainability. From the fruit on in the desert to the fresh veggies, everything on the menu is produced locally. Even the menu's are made from their recycled material. If you have the chance to try this restaurant out, think about the burger...it is unreal.

Galena Lodge: If you are looking for a day outside of the city center try driving up to Galena Lodge for a good home cooked meal and potentially snow shoeing or cross country skiing! I love the soup and grilled cheese!

Cristina's: If you ever have the chance to eat here, please do! It is my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Idaho. It has a cottage feel with european tastes. Cristina is an incredible chef, you might even get lucky and see her running around in the back!

What to Do:

Galena Lodge:

The Galena Lodge is a gem in Idaho. With homemade food and some of the sweetest staff I have ever met, it is the perfect place to try out snow shoeing, cross country skiing or even just to take some great photos. It is a higher altitude than Sun Valley, so it tends to get significantly more snow, which is great when you want to do any kind of winter sport! Make sure you pack layers  - it gets cold! You can also cross country ski to a Yurt in the mountains, where you can spend the night under the stars.

Sun Valley Lodge:

The Sun Valley Lodge has so much to offer. From ice skating to the spa, you can easily spend your entire day at the lodge. Other activities include underground bowling, concerts and a great bar!

Mount Baldy:

The ski center of Sun Valley! If you are traveling to Sun Valley and know you plan to ski, check out the sun valley ski website for deals. Typically lift tickets are significantly cheaper if you buy them in advance. Also, take the chair lift up to the top of the mountain and have lunch at the lodge at the very top!

Bow Bridge:

One of my favorite places to go on a walk in Sun Valley is called Bow Bridge. The trail is actually shaped like a bow and their is an arrow part way through the walk. With breath taking views and a dog friendly path, make sure to take a walk at sunset, you won't regret it!
