A Weekend at the Surfrider Malibu

A Weekend in Paradise

The Surfrider Malibu is a slice of heaven in the hustle and bustle of L.A. Located directly across from the widely known Malibu Farm, it is the perfect location to relax and unwind for the weekend.

There are a limited amount of rooms in the hotel, which only adds to the quaint and exclusive feel of the space. When you walk in the front door you are immediately transported into what feels like an Australian bungalow. The aroma of roses and wood drift through the air as the neutral tones add a gentle simplicity that makes it feel like home.

Trust me when I say, once you check-in you won’t want to leave.

There are several types of rooms, from beach views to bottom story, each one offering its unique charm. Be aware that during the summer months there is a two-night minimum stay, which can significantly hike up the price.

Highlights

The best part of the entire hotel, in my opinion, is the roof deck. I checked in and had dinner reservations elsewhere, but the second I stepped onto the roof I was there to stay! With a completely unobstructed view of the ocean and mountains behind you teeming with wild deer, you feel like you are sitting on your own private island. The bar is strung with twinkling lights and you are even offered blankets to keep warm.

Food

I was also blown away by the food! I ate on the roof for both dinner and breakfast. For dinner I ordered the poke bowl, which was extremely fresh and plenty of food. We also got the guacamole and chips. To quench your thirst, I recommend the house gin drink, it was so refreshing!!

Next up, breakfast – only my favorite meal of the day! I ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg, the fig and ricotta toast with honey comb and the yogurt berry bowl. You really can't go wrong with any of these dishes. They each were presented beautifully and tasted even better!

Tip: Get up to the roof early in the morning to snag an ocean front table and read the paper!
