A luxury Staycation in San Diego at Estancia La Jolla
San Diego has been a hot spot for tourism for years, but locals are now starting a new trend: the Staycation. With the many beautiful hotels in the area, it is hard to pass up a luxury weekend by the pool under the palms.
Estancia La Jolla
We stayed at Estancia La Jolla for our staycation and I fell in love. Not only are the grounds breathtaking, but the food is to die for…and you all know how important food is for me. We arrived at Estancia on Saturday morning and were immediately able to check in. We stayed in one of their garden suites, which was located right outside of the pool area.
The Rooms
The rooms are massive. We had a king bed and little deck where we were able to drink some wine and spend part of the evening. They also have a great TV that allows you to access Netflix for a fun movie night. You can even order a movie package with cookies and milk delivered hot and right to your door.
One of my favorite amenities in the room was the Fresh bathroom products. I am such a sucker for a good smelling lotion and body wash. Fresh is one of my favorite brands and this was a great added touch. If you are like me, robes are also very important. The Estancia robes might be the best robes I have ever worn. I basically was lounging in that robe the entire weekend and almost purchased it.
The Pool
The Estancia pool is lovely. We spent the majority of the day lounging by the pool and sipping cocktails. If you are coming with a group, I highly suggest reserving a cabana, as the pool lounges can fill up and the Cabanas offer more space and guaranteed seating.

Mustangs and Burros
Mustangs and Burros is one of the restaurants on Estancia’s property. Set among the trees, it is a great location to enjoy a cocktail or dinner. Happy hour is every day from 3-6pm with discounts on menu items. A great steal if you want drinks and appetizers before dinner!

In Room Dining
I had to make a section for this because holy moly, Estancia really knows how to do in room dining. My favorite items were the desert specials for a movie night. You can order anything from milk and cookies to candy and popcorn right to your door for the perfect movie night.
If you have a furry friend, Estancia is also pet friendly so you can bring your pup and order in room dinner for your pet!
