A Guide to Bora Bora, Tahiti
Getting to Bora Bora
Getting to Bora Bora is a multiple step process, you will need two flights and a boat to your final destination. First, you need to book a flight to Pape'ete, the main island of Tahiti. Your second flight will be to the small airport in Bora Bora. Finally, once you arrive at the airport in Bora Bora, you will need to arrange a transfer boat with your hotel.
Where to Stay
InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa - when it comes to hotels in Bora Bora, you are going to want to splurge. Your experience entirely depends on what hotel you stay at and there are some less than worthy hotels. For example, there are two InterContinental hotels on Bora Bora. We visited both while we were there, the standard InterContinental was honestly horrible and not worth the money. It is located on the windy side of the island so you are miserable when you lay out on the beach and the water is not as clear. Whereas the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa is on the protected side of the island, with less wind and crystal clear water.
We stayed in a pool premium over the water bungalow, which includes a private pool. The hotel does have its own pool for guests, which is really nice, so the private pool is unnecessary if you are trying to save money.
What to expect
Bora Bora is a very resort style vacation, what I mean by that is you are truly confined to the resort. This is not an adventuring vacation per say. The resort does offer excursions such as boating, snorkeling, helicopter rides, etc. So bring a book and get ready for some serious relaxation.
What to bring
Bathing suits! You can grab some from Tagged Swim, xx
A good book or three!
Snorkel - the resort has some you can borrow, but I think there is something weird about using a snorkel others have used
Adaptor for your chargers!
tips
If you want a dinner on the beach, request it before you arrive to make sure they can accommodate you.
Bring your own wine! Wine at the hotel costs around $60+ a bottle and you can bring some from the mainland for only about $20.
